the retreat™ design
Retreat’s luxury lodges are both conformist and revolutionary. Technically, our lodges conform to the definition of a caravan, as set out in the Caravan Sites Act 1968, and to reinforce this we manufactured to British Standard British Standard 3632:2023. This standard is developed by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and is regularly updated to reflect advancements in technology and best practices.
Designing and manufacturing under BS3632 means our Retreats are exempt from Building Regulations and VAT (apart from removable items, upon which VAT is applied). Classified as a transportable building, it is ready to move into soon after siting and can be situated in places that a conventional home cannot. At Retreat we are a National Caravan Council (NCC) approved manufacturer. You can see what that entails for us here…NCC
No other manufactured holiday home is constructed like our lodges. We manufacture our Retreats to stand the test of time. We allow the purchaser to choose from numerous options which include roof configurations (‘flat’, ‘traditional pitch’, off-set etc.) to bespoke kitchen and bathroom specifications and layouts. Clients can make any number of alterations to the design and are given the freedom to add or move windows to suit the orientation of the plot.

- Galvanised steel guttering
- Galvanised steel with stone granular finish roof tile (other options are available)
- Solid vertical Western Red Cedar external cladding
- 9mm MDF internal boarding
- A variety of quality flooring products
- Bespoke kitchens & AA rated kitchen appliances
- Various kitchen worktop finishes and style choices
- Floor to ceiling windows
- Brushed Stainless Steel electrical sockets and switches
- Extensive tiling options for kitchens and bathrooms/ensuite
Insulation U-values comply with British Standard 3632. With high levels of insulation, our luxury Retreats can be used comfortably throughout the year, extending the season for all-year-round holiday occupation or full time living.
